The most common question we get about our tours is "What do you mean when you say 'small group"? Well, to Europe, we keep our groups at about 12 travelers. In fact, I have heard Arthur Frommer speak and he said "large motorcoach tours are death" and if you take a group tour, make sure the group size is at about 12 people. When we travel to Peru, we might have a few more in the group, but traveling to Peru lends itself to taking larger groups. However, we never exceed 20 people.
Do our trip include airfare? No, they don't and I will tell you why. People on our tours join us from all over the country. Some have frequent flyer miles, some want to include other stops in their itinerary. What I will help you with, however, is finding the best priced airfares.
Do we all depart from the same city? No, again. We meet in either Paris, Florence, Rome, or Lima. It's easier and cheaper for everyone.
What is the age group of people who travel with you? I would say the average age of our travelers in somewhere in their 50's. All of our travelers are in shape to walk a few miles a day. It's not uncommon for us to have father/son, mother/daughter travelers with us. We like to take like-minded travelers on our trips and we cannot travel with anyone under 21 years of age.
Do you need to be a professor to travel on one of your trips? No.
What if I am a single traveler? The Traveling Professor's trips are perfect! If you are a single traveler, you will have 11 companions built in on the trip for you.
Why don't you travel to Spain (or India, or Hungary, etc.)? We do what we do very well. We do trips that lend themselves well to small group travel. For instance, Positano in Italy is a great place to go, but not with 12 people.
