On my tours to Italy, my favorite dining spots are as follows:

La Tagliata in Positano:  the scenery is stunning, the food is plentiful.  Organically grown on their own farm, enjoy fresh grilled veggies like eggplant, and fresh tomatoes.   The buffalo mozzarella wrapped in prosciutto is to die for.   The wine flows freely as the pasta is delivered to the table.  Out of this world.

Osteria dei Fabbri:  In the Jewish ghetto of Padua, pick out a seat from one of the community tables and get ready for authentic dishes like chick pea soup with fresh mushrooms or radicchio lasagna.   Website:  http://www.osteriadeifabbri.it/

On my tours to Paris, my favorite stop is:

La Pre Verre:  the 14.50 lunch special is the best deal in Paris.   I have had traditional French dishes like boudin noir and mideastern dishes as well.   Top-notch wines come with lunch as well as an appetizer (usually a salad) and coffee.  Website:  http://www.lepreverre.com/inde

On tours to Peru when passing through Lima, we ALWAYS stop here:

Restaurant Huaca Pucllana:  Set amongst ancient ruins, this restaurant is a hot-spot of emerging Peruvian cuisine.  Beef hearts may not be for everyone but a wide variety of appetizers as well as main courses like Amazon fish, beef, and pasta are always on the menu.  A top, top, top dining value at about $50 per person.  Website:  http://www.resthuacapucllana.com/es/

When on tour in Spain, we do like the Spaniards do:

Mercado de San Miguel:  In the heart of Madrid, it is the epicenter of tapas.   Enjoy those little hamburgers, meatballs, olives, sausage, and just about anything else you can think of.  Wash it down with classic Spanish wines.  Website:   http://www.resthuacapucllana.com/es/

Travel Product of the Month

Bluffworks Travel Product of the MonthA few months ago, I found a travel product that has been one of the most practical travel products I have ever used.  When on the road, it is always difficult for me to pack a variety of clothes for the different locations I go to and the different functions I attend.  For instance, I might spend a few days in Iceland, then I am off to Peru, then I need to go to Scotland for some business meetings.  I have found a product that is perfect for me, and maybe perfect for you.  Read the blog post to find out more.

5 Things to Do in Edinburgh, Scotland

small group tours to scotlandLinda and I just returned from a week in Scotland.  We spent a short stay in Edinburgh, the city of famous writers like Robert Burns, Sir Walter Scott and Robert Louis Stevenson.  It's a busy and beautiful city of stone. We found the people to be over-the-top friendly, the food to be hearty and good, lots of things to see and do. We enjoyed or stay and plan on bringing The Traveling Professor's small group tours to Scotland and of course, Edinburgh. But for a start, see what we liked on our tour to the capital city of Scotland where the motto seems to be, "Today's Rain is Tomorrow's Whisky".

Two Small Hotels in Florence

best hotels in florence italyEveryone loves to travel to Florence, Italy.  And why not?  There's David at the Accademia, the Uffizi Gallery, and lots of other wonderful places to see.  It's a great walking city with everything within 15 minutes of each other.  There are great transportation connections to wineries and other small cities in Tuscany like Lucca, Siena, and San Gimignano.  And the food!  Probably the best in all of Italy.  It's no wonder why The Traveling Professor's small group tours to Italy and Florence always fill up as soon as they are offered.  Read about my two favorite hotels in Florence in today's Italy blog post.
