VIENNA, STEYR, SALZBURG, INNSBRUCK &  Optional MUNICH

Sunday, December 3, 2017 to Monday, December 11, 2017

This is the Christmas fondly remembered, from years gone by.  The outdoor markets with hand-made wooden toys, ornaments and local crafts. The sound of carolers, brass bands and horse-drawn wagons clip-clopping their way on the snow-dusted cobblestones.  The beautifully decorated town squares, lined with glowing Christmas trees.  Enjoy a bratwurst, pretzel, or gingerbread cookie.  All of this and a cup of hot chocolate will warm your heart as it did when you were a child.

The Traveling Professor is proud to present the best Austrian and Bavarian Christmas Markets, full of nostalgia and good spirit. Top hotels, a delightful itinerary, fully guided with plenty of opportunity to shop and explore on your own.  This is the way to celebrate the yuletide season.  It’s here, waiting just for you, along with a hand-warming mug of traditional Bavarian glühwein.

This is What You Get:
  • 3 Nights Vienna:  Start off with a welcome event of Austrian wine and authentic foods.  Our private tour guide introduces the very best of the city, highlighting the finest Christmas markets.  Your Vienna Card offers unlimited local transportation and discounted entrance to attractions like the Fine Arts Museum and Spanish Riding School.  The hotel is the highly-rated and conveniently located 4-star Hotel AM Konzerthaus.
  • Stopover in Steyr, the Sister City of Bethlehem:  Now this is special.  Steyr’s reputation as the City of the Christ Child (Christkindl) is legendary. Letters and postcards from all over the world are still stamped by hand – send a Christmas message back home to loved ones.  The Nativity scene is one of the last stick-puppet theaters still performing.  The memory of this endearing place of wintry fairy tales and shining lights will stay with you for many holidays to come.
  • 3 Nights Salzburg:  In the center of Old Town, steps from Mozart’s birthplace and scenes from “The Sound of Music”, the highly-rated 4-star Hotel Elefant is our home.  Our guide Michaela, tells the story of the origin of the song, “Silent Night” as well as revealing the enchanting delights of this Alpine village.
  • Innsbruck:  2 nights in this delightful, snow-dusted mountain village.  You'll think you traveled back 300 years in time.  To top it off, we have an authentic Tyrolian dinner with show planned for our last evening.  Everyone is surprised how much they enjoy it.
  • Optional 2 Nights Munich:  We travel to this Bavarian city via luxury train.  Perhaps the grandest and most majestic Christmas markets are here.  A guided tour introduces the city.  The location of the 4-star Hotel Eden Wolff hotel is close to all!
