Norway is the perfect late-summer destination.  The weather is mild, the crowds are never overwhelming.  The hotels alone make the trip memorable.  It makes traveling a joy!  The Traveling Professor has developed a delightful itinerary featuring outstanding hotels, tremendous natural beauty, fun activities, and attractions full of culture and history.  There are only 8-16 travelers on our Norway tours.

Neighborhood Walks, Museums, Markets and Gardens:   Oslo sparkles like a jewel perched at the edge of the fjord.  Its glacier-like opera house is surrounded by Viking ships and fortresses.  Travel by tram and ferry through the city to attractions like the newly-opened National Museum, Thor Heyerdahl's Kon-Tiki, royal palaces, and the largest sculpture park in the world. You will scream with delight at the Munch Museum, jump for joy at the panoramic views from the Holmenkollbakken ski-jumping hill,  and all I am saying, is give the Nobel Peace Prize Institute a chance.

The Fjords: Flåm is a charming village and has become one of the most attractive places in Europe to visit while still keeping its authenticity and original character.  Flåm valley boast natural beauty, sitting beneath snow-capped mountains at the base of the Sognefjord. To get there, travel on what is widely considered the most beautiful train ride in the world, the Flamsbana Railway.  In Flåm stay at the famed Fretheim Hotel.  It is our home on the fjord, all rooms with a balconied fjord views.  This is our base for breathtaking scenery, hiking, walking, biking, and for the for those seeking adventure, zip-lining from mountain to valley on the longest zip line in Europe.

Bergen: A UNESCO World Heritage City, Bergen proudly promenades a Hanseatic heritage of bustling fish markets, colorful wooden homes, and a network of cobblestone streets.  A city of music, culture, history and culture, it is not to be missed on our Norwegan tour.

Scenic Rail:  Travel from city to city on high-speed luxury scenic rail.  From the shimmering fjords, raging rivers, hundreds of waterfalls, snowy mountains, the journey across Norway by train is unforgettable.
