Our hotel is so close to everything. It is a short walk to the Duomo, a short walk to the Ufizzi Gallery and just about every other attraction in Florence.
We started the day by just walking into the Ufizzi Gallery. We did not need to make a reservation or wait in any lines. The Renaissance paintings and sculptures here are beyond explanation.
Some of us also went to the newly renovated Galileo Museum for a private guided tour. The museum is so well done that you don't need to love science to love this museum.
A sit-down 3-course lunch was a bargain at 12 euros. I have to admit, I know the great places to eat at bargain prices. This is not a budget tour of Florence, but we are paying budget prices for a luxury tour. For years I have done the research to get the best value out of Florence. It is a shame when we see tour groups of 30-40 people paying double for what we are paying and getting half of what we get.
There is so much to see here in Florence. The Palazzo Strozzi, the Basilica of Santa Croce, the Bargello and more. We could spend another week!

On our last small group tour of Italy, about half the group (4 of us) took a 2-day extension of the trip to Venice. It exceeed my expectations in that it is more romantic than I could have possibly imagined. Venice is one of those unique places on earth because it really is a city built into the sea.
