We asked members of The Traveling Professor's newsletter mailing list some short travel questions.   Here are their responses about travel.

  • 79% Female.  21% Male.

Question: What is your age category?

  • 2% were in their 30’s or younger.
  • 7% were in their 40’s.
  • 25% were in their 50’s.
  • 44% were in their 60’s.
  • 20% were in their 70’s.
  • 2% were 80 or over.

Question:  Would you consider taking a small group tour in the next 36 months with any tour company?
  • 93% said yes

Question: Which Existing Traveling Professor tour would you consider taking (multiple responses accepted)?

  • 57% said they would consider taking a Traveling Professor tour to Italy
  • 42% said they would consider taking a Traveling Professor tour to Ireland
  • 42% said they would consider taking a Traveling Professor tour to Denmark/Norway/Iceland
  • 39% said they would consider taking a Traveling Professor tour to Northern Lights of Iceland
  • 36% said they would consider taking a Traveling Professor tour to Paris
  • 29% said they would consider taking a Traveling Professor tour to Peru/Machu Picchu
  • 28% said they would consider taking a Traveling Professor tour to Christmas Markets of Bavaria & Germany
  • 27% said they would consider taking a Traveling Professor tour to Paris & The Normandy Invasion Beaches
  • 4% said they wouldn’t consider any of these tours

Question:  What is your travel style in terms of tour price/hotel quality level?

  • 14% said they prefer 4-star and better luxury hotels at about $4,000 for a 10-day tour
  • 47% said they prefer a 3-star deluxe travel style at about $3,000 for a 10 day trip
  • 25% said they like a budget 2-star off season tour at about $2,000 for 6-7 days

Question:  What NEW tour would you like to see The Traveling Professor introduce (multiple responses were accepted)?

  • 43% indicated they would like to see The Professor introduce a new Spain and Portugal trip
  • 37% indicated they would like to see The Professor introduce a new Budapest/Vienna/Prague trip
  • 37% indicated they would like to see The Professor introduce a new Croatia trip
  • 37% indicated they would like to see The Professor introduce a new Southern Italy and Sicily trip
  • 33% indicated they would like to see The Professor introduce a new Basque Region of Spain trip
  • 32% indicated they would like to see The Professor introduce a Veneto region of Italy trip
  • 23% indicated they would like to see The Professor introduce a new Friuli Venezia Giulia trip
  • 7% had no suggestions for a new tour

The Traveling Professor will take the survey results and design tours with the information collected from the survey in mind.  For instance, more tours for active women may be offered.  We've already started designing tours with Spain and Portugal in mind as well as Budapest, Prague and Vienna.  We will also look at Croatia closely.

As an incentive to respond to the survey, we offered prizes of Admiral's Club 1-Day Passes, $20 Amazon Gift Certificates, and signed copies of "The Traveling Professor's Guide to Paris".  All winners are in the process of being notified, so watch your inbox - you could be a winner.
