Denmark, Norway, Iceland Trip Report

12 Nights in Scandinavia. See the Photos!

small group tour to denmark norway iceland13 hearty travelers joined The Traveling Professor on a small group tour to Denmark, Norway and Iceland earlier this month.   This group was a little different from The Professor's other groups in that it was almost evenly split between Baby Boomers and Millenials.  It was surprising how the two groups fit in so well with each other to enjoy a wonderful trip to Scandinavia.  Read about it in this travel blog post.

Italy Trip Report: Part III

Florence, Tuscan Hill Towns, Venice

tours to florenceI'm back from my tour to Italy that included visits to Rome, the Amalfi Coast, Florence, the Tuscan hill towns of Monterrigioni an Castellina, and Venice.    We had a small group tour of about 12 travelers, from all over the United States and Canada join us.  The weather was unpredictably cool, but delightful.  In our two weeks in Italy, we only experienced one day of inclement weather and even that day was not so bad.   Read the blog post to find out more about our tour to Italy.

London and Paris Trip Report: Days 5-7

A Wonderful Trip With New Discoveries

One reason I keep coming back to Paris, even after 35 visits or so, is that I always discover something new to me.  On my past tours of Paris, I took several visits until I found things like the Musée l’Orangerie, my favorite restaurant, Le Pre Verre, the Musée Arts et Metiers, and the passageways and walks that make a visit to Paris almost like a new experience every time I go.   Read about my last 3 days in Paris and find out about the sites I have visited again and what’s new in Paris for me.

The Joy of Inexpensively Flying Premium Economy Overseas

Flying Premium EconomyIf you are like The Traveling Professor, you abhor those overnight coach class trans-Atlantic flights from North America to Europe.  They are jam-packed, cramped, and they are practically impossible to get any sleep on.  You could always book business or first class, but that will probably cost about $3,000 or more.  But on a recent small group tour to Italy, we took an overseas flight from New York to Italy, I flew in comfort with a good 6 hours of shut-eye, for less than a coach-class seat.  See why Premium Economy is the only way to go to Europe.

Flying Premium Economy

The Professor just returned from a small group tour to Italy.  We saw a lot of great sites like the David at the Accademia and the classic Renaissance Italian art at the Uffizi Palace.  We enjoyed the charm and history of this great Tuscan city.  But when it came time to eat, we took advantage of the bounty of wonderful Italian food, Tuscan style. The best restaurants in Florence feature fresh vegetables, aromatic herbs, home-made pasta, organic beef.  Don't forget about the pizza, cheeses, fruits and of course the best gelato in the world.  Read about The Traveling Professor's ppicks for some of the best restaurants in Florence.
