Perfect 3 Day Dublin Ireland Itinerary

Perfect 3 Day Dublin Ireland Itinerary

It is almost impossible not to have fun in Dublin.  Here are The Traveling Professor's recommendations of what to see and do in Dublin as well as where to stay and where to eat.

Day 1:  Arrive and Dublin and rest up.  It's going to be an active few days.  We always recommend orienting yourself to the historic area of Dublin by familiarizing yourself with St. Stephen's Green, Great George's Street and the Temple Bar area.

Day 2:  Do yourself a favor and book a Pat Liddy Walking Tour.   All of Pat's guides are informative and funny.  You will be sure to see St. Stephen's Green, Parliament House, Trinity College, and Dublin Castle. You are sure to see St. Patrick's Cathedral and Christchurch Cathedral too.

Day 3: There is no sense on going to Dublin unless you pay a visit to Guinness Storehouse.  There is more than raising a pint there, it is a step into Dublin history.  A whiskey tasting at Jameson should be on the schedule too.  And let's not forget the Irish Museum of Emigration, the EPIC.  It's one of the best museums in Europe, especially for Americans.  It tells the story of how this small island of Ireland has made such an impact on the rest of the world.

Where to Stay: Nothing beats the Brooks Hotel.  It is right in the middle of all of it but somehow manages to tuck itself away in a quiet corner.  Great service, terrific Irish breakfast, friendly bar, and surprisingly good restaurant.  Do it!

Where to Eat:  Dublin has undergone a renaissance in dining.  Our favorite spot is the Rustic Stone on St. Georges. Big, brassy and good hearty food rules the day.

Where to Drink: The two best pubs in Dublin are The Long Haul and the ancient Brazen Head.
