Normandy Invasion Beaches and Paris

A Tour Like No Other

Normandy Invasion Beaches TourA visit to the beaches, cemeteries, and battle sites pays tribute to the acts of bravery our heroes displayed on June 6, 1944 in Normandy.  It brings with it a greater understanding and appreciation of the events surrounding that fateful day.  Walk in the sand at Utah and Omaha to get the vantage point of the liberators when their landing-craft ramps dropped into the surf.  Visit enemy bunkers. See the cliffs scaled by the Rangers at Pointe du Hoc.  Walk through the liberated villages still scarred by the ferocious fighting that took place.  Everyone experiences different emotions upon seeing the field of crosses and Stars of David at the American Cemetery, but be assured of this - the memory will stay forever.

How to Deal with London's LHR Airport

Getting Through LHR securityWhile we appreciate the concern for tight security at airport screening stations at every airport, London's Heathrow Airport has a particularly thorough procedure.  Along with lengthy times to transfer between any of its 4 passenger terminals (terminals 2-5), passing through LHR to transfer to another flight can be a particularly stressful exercise in making a connection on time.  For instance, on a recent trip from Glasgow to LHR to Dallas, we had a 2 1/2 hour layover.  We needed almost every minute on that layover in London to make that connection.  In this blog post, I give tips on what to consider, and how to deal with transferring through London's Heathrow airport.
