The Traveling Professor runs a couple of cold weather tours:
Here are some special items we pack specifically for cold weather tours:
Crampons: Also known as ice cleats, all you need to do is put these on over boots/shoes and it prevents slipping on icy surfaces. These are the ones The Professor likes because they are a good value, and are easy to get on: https://amzn.to/3XHKuKe
TWO Pairs of Shoes: Of course you need a rugged pair of shoes/boots for tramping around in the snow. But when you get back to the hotel, slip into something more comfortable like these Skechers for men or for women.
Lined Pants: Boy are these nice while walking around in colder temperatures. We really like the Eddie Bauer lined pants for men and Eddie Bauer lined pants for women.
Thin Thermal Gloves: The Professor likes them cheap, warm, and thin. This is the pair you want to get: https://amzn.to/3wdVCDe
Bathing Suit: What? Yes, if you are going to Iceland and to the Blue Lagoon, you need a bathing suit! But who wants to drag a wet bathing suit around in their suitcase? Also, if you are staying at a nice hotel with a pool or sauna, the winter makes it extra special. That's why The Professor buys this inexpensive bathing suit and just leaves it behind.
Travel Moisturizer: It's cold and your skin is going to get dry. Get this travel-size moisturizer.
Rain Gear: If it's not snowy, it will be rainy in the winter. Linda likes this stylish yellow jacket (it comes in other colors too) for rainy weather.
Join The Professor on a small group tour. We do go to places where it is warm too!
